In France les soldes are a big three week event. They have two major sales a year, one in summer and the other in winter. Of course these sales do not correspond with major holiday's like Christmas back home but instead with the seasons. Fall/Winter wardrobe out. Spring/Summer wardrobe in. These sales are government mandated and literally every store must be in on it. The government even sets the date.
Today is week two of the sales which means the prices will be marked down even further. 60, 70 and 80 percent. The selection will be dwindling but "phase two" is suppose to be pretty good. Hopefully we will have some luck.
In Paris the sales are chaotic. The smart shoppers go just before les soldes begin, try on everything they like and then line up early on opening day so they can rush in and secure their goods. Still, even on sale and even at 80% off, all of the designer stuff is well beyond my price range.
