Jacobs's latest obsession: work trucks

Diggers, dump trucks, loaders, cement mixers, garbage trucks...  He loves them all and we're constantly on the lookout whenever we are out driving or walking.  It has been a nice shift from the hockey obsession.

His current favourite are diggers and fortunately for us, they are grading a new park near our house and a "monster big digger" as Jake likes to say, has been working away for weeks.

Lately, he likes to tell strangers in the doctor's office or the grocery store cashier that the "big digger dumps dirt" and then adds a few sound effects and funny arm movements to emphasize how cool this is.

Then I saw an idea for a dumpers and diggers sensory box on Pinterest and thought he might like it.  It took me a while to find little toy trucks with working parts but once those were sourced, all I needed were tons of beans and a Tupperware to house them all.

It was a huge hit!  HUGE.

I would've been happy if he got fifteen minutes out of it.  Instead, he played with it for well over an hour; dumping, digging, scooping, filling.  He was "working hard" at his "construction site" and couldn't be disrupted.

Now we're going to tuck it away and bring it out when the baby arrives.  So Jake has a little something special all his own.
